Paris, December 12, 2024 – Two years after its launch, Bitstack has become France’s #1 Bitcoin savings app. Over 150,000 French users have saved and invested more than €125 million in Bitcoin, achieving an average unrealized gain of 85%. As Bitcoin reaches new heights, surpassing the historic $100,000 mark, Bitstack announces a €5 million funding round led by Stillmark, with participation from Serena, Plug and Play, Y Combinator, Founders Future, and STATION F. This funding milestone marks a key step in the startup’s ambition to reinvent the bank of tomorrow. Bitstack is also launching today a new version of its app, featuring a new brand identity to embody this evolution.
In a world where inflation erodes purchasing power every day, Bitcoin stands out as a new store of value. With a supply limited to 21 million units, Bitcoin offers an alternative to traditional currency, and its adoption continues to grow. Already, 12% of French citizens hold crypto assets—more than those owning direct shares (6.7% according to the AMF)—and 22% are considering acquiring them. Bitstack is at the forefront of this revolution, democratizing Bitcoin savings, the best-performing asset of the decade.
Bitstack offers a simple and intuitive mobile app designed to make saving and investing in Bitcoin effortless.
The app gained popularity through its round-up savings feature, where everyday purchases are rounded up to the nearest euro, and the spare change is automatically invested in Bitcoin (e.g., a coffee purchased for €2.60 is rounded to €3, with €0.40 invested in Bitcoin). It also allows users to buy and sell Bitcoin instantly from as little as €1, set up recurring purchases (e.g., €25 per week), and send/receive Bitcoin seamlessly.
“In just two years, Bitstack has become the go-to app in France for saving in Bitcoin. In 2024, we ranked among the top 10 most downloaded Finance apps, and our revenue has more than tripled”, said Alexandre Roubaud, co-founder and CEO of Bitstack. “Bitcoin is a financial revolution that addresses major challenges such as inflation. With this funding, we will accelerate Bitcoin’s democratization by launching innovative, accessible services that will soon be used by millions of people”, he added.
One in five French citizens say they are willing to switch banks to a more “crypto-friendly” institution. With this funding, Bitstack aims to meet that demand.
Starting today, Bitstack is launching a new version of its app alongside a refreshed brand identity. This evolution reflects a bold ambition: transforming Bitstack from a Bitcoin savings app into the go-to financial app for millions of French users.
By early 2025, Bitstack will introduce a euro account with an IBAN, allowing users to deposit their euros or salaries into the app and automatically convert a portion or all of it into Bitcoin, regardless of their employer.
This account will also come with a VISA debit card, enabling users to pay in euros or Bitcoin anywhere while earning Bitcoin cashback on every purchase. This is an innovative, effortless way to save in Bitcoin.
The funds raised will also be used to recruit new talent to support Bitstack’s strong growth, intensify user acquisition, and solidify its market position.
“Bitcoin is not just a new store of value—it's a transformative shift in how we think about savings, wealth preservation, and the future of finance. With this funding, Bitstack is taking a giant leap toward making Bitcoin an easily accessible part of everyone’s financial toolkit. We’re excited to offer simple, new ways for millions of European users to benefit from Bitcoin's potential and reshape the future of savings. Alexandre and Kabir’s vision, leadership, and relentless dedication have made Bitstack the trusted leader in Bitcoin savings in France, and we look forward to supporting them as they continue to innovate and drive financial empowerment for millions.” said Alyse Killeen, Founder and Managing Partner at Stillmark.
